Information Architecture Intern
Turn complex ideas into clear, useful experiences — learn information architecture, UX writing, and documentation while contributing to real product work.
Software Finder is looking for a motivated Information Architecture Intern to support our UX, Product and Engineering teams in shaping how information is structured and communicated across our digital products. This is a hands-on learning opportunity for someone who enjoys simplifying complex ideas, organizing content, and writing clear, user-focused copy. The intern will work closely with senior team members to learn information architecture, UX writing, and technical documentation practices while contributing to real product work.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in designing and maintaining information architecture elements such as site maps, taxonomies, navigation structures and content hierarchies, under guidance from senior team members.
Collaborate with UX, Product and Engineering teams to help translate business and user requirements into clear, structured content.
Support the creation of product copy including UI labels, microcopy, onboarding flows, tooltips and error messages.
Help maintain voice, tone and terminology consistency across the product ecosystem, following established content governance standards.
Contribute to documentation efforts including user guides, release notes, feature docs and help center articles.
Help simplify technical concepts into content that's easy to understand for both internal and external audiences.
Participate in content audits to identify gaps, inconsistencies or opportunities to improve clarity and usability.
Support user research, usability inspections and usability testing sessions as needed.
Assist in drafting and refining UX copy for interfaces (labels, buttons, error messages, onboarding, empty states).
Requirements
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Design, Journalism, or a related field.
Some exposure to UX writing, content strategy, technical documentation, or information architecture (coursework, personal projects, or prior internships welcome).
Familiarity with design/collaboration tools such as Figma or FigJam is a plus.
Basic familiarity with documentation tools such as MS Office, Docusaurus or GitHub is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail.
Genuine interest in UX principles, content design and how structure affects user experience.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment and take feedback constructively.
Eagerness to learn content modeling, taxonomy design and governance practices on the job.
